When the world lost EDM artist Avicii, the music industry was shocked and saddened. While other artists have honored Avicii in some way or another, the dedications by The Chainsmokers and Halsey touched everyone in the audience of the Billboard Music Awards. Earlier this year, it was announced that the artist had taken his own life because of the effects of mental illness. Mental illness is something that touches almost everyone in the world in some way or another, Halsey reminded the audience of the importance of providing support to everyone that they love when they are struggling.

The Chainsmokers and Halsey were presenting a Billboard Music Award to Luis Fonsi when they spoke about how inspiring Avicii was to the music community and the world as well as to them specifically. The loss of Avicii was very difficult for everyone that knew him as well as his fans due to the happiness that he spread to everyone that had the pleasure to be around him.

Later in the evening, The Chainsmokers honored Avicci once again by dedicating their Billboard Music Award to him. According to The Chainsmokers, he inspired them to believe in themselves that they could make it in EDM. Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers are a DJ and producer duo that reached the top of the Billboard Charts. Along with their win at the Billboard Music Awards, they also received 5 iHeartRadio Music Awards and 2 American Music Awards.

Their audience consists of a lot of young adults who relate to their lyrics that are based on their experiences in life. While their music on their first album, Memories… Do Not Open touched on some rather serious subject matter for EDM, the songs on their newest albums take it a step or two further. Songs like Everybody Hates Me‘s lyrics hit hard with everyone that has ever felt paranoid and lonely even in the middle of the crowd. Mental illness and worries are a strong theme in the decidedly darker album.

Right now in the world of cell phones, one of the biggest subjects is data. Everyone offers talk, text, and basic phone options, but when you get to data plans, they can really be expensive. A lot of cell phone companies are now offering free or large data plans to use on your phone, but when you want to use your table, laptop, or home computer, you have to have a separate home internet plan or you have to pay a large amount of money for a hot spot unit and a hot spot data plan, and again it is for a limited amount of data. This can be very expensive, plus when and if you are able to add more data, it usually runs you the cost of at least $5 per GB which you can use pretty fast. So of course, everyone is looking for that great deal of either unlimited or a significant amount of data on a hot spot type plan. Well FreedomPop is now offering that service.

FreedomPop is offering the newest thing in cell phone deals; they are on a mission to take customers away from other companies by offering free plans that include basic text, talk, and data plans and have now added another bombshell: unlimited Wi-Fi service with free sign-up hotspots for just $5. With other companies charging a large fee for internet and hot spots, internet plans, and expensive top off fees for hot spots, this is quite a deal. Statistics are showing that up to 90% of data being used is from use of Wi-Fi.

They will be offering ten million hotspots to well over 100 million people in all the large key cities. This will enable customers the use of several devices off of one hot spot and would mean they could run their home computers, laptops, tablets, Kindles, and iPods off of one hot spot using it for internet service. Right now they are offering services through an app for iPhones but as of yet, have not offered an app for a Windows app and are working to get their service to equal that of Google’s. This Wi-Fi service is brand new to FreedomPop and has just been added because they wanted to be sure that the service would work without any problems. FreedomPop is planning on adding a minimum of one million customers this year with this service. The company is planning to extend their service to Europe later this year.

FreedomPop has also announced that they will be offering services in Britain, but will be a sim-card service only. This means that you can only bring your sim card with you, not your phone from another carrier. They will be offering a basic free service that will offer three services including 200 talk minutes, texting, and MB’s of data which is what most companies in Britain are offering. This will also include free calls to 60 other countries, free calls to other customers of FreedomPop, and a set amount of data which will roll over for other months. They are getting ready to launch a new program called JetSetter which is a free data roaming program that will be available later this year. It will give customers free data (high speed) each month to use in Britian, France, and Spain and will be expanding to other countries later on.

The LightSail is a solar-propelled spacecraft first proposed by Carl Sagan. The craft uses the sun as a power source, and the current prototype created by The Planetary Society is the size of a breadbox with four large sails. The prototype is set to have a test flight to space on May 20, 2015, but The Planetary Society still needs another $1.2 million dollars to fund its first full mission in 2016. Bill Nye, the CEO of The Planetary Society, has turned to Kickstarter to help fund his LightSail project. The starting goal is a modest $200,000 but there are stretch goals to $1 million.
That is what Ricardo Guimarães BMG likes to see. If the project gets fully funded, people can look forward to seeing the LightSail liftoff in 2016 with the help of SpaceX.
The recent departure of Michelle MacLaren from the Wonder Woman film is a major shock. MacLaren was being promoted as a high profile director who was going to make the film into something very special. Originally, the plan was to craft a trilogy of films that spanned three very different generations in American history. Apparently, MacLaren, Warner Bros, and D.C. Comics were not seeing eye to eye. MacLaren has quit over “creative differences”.

Does this mean the original script and concept for the Wonder Woman movie is being scrapped? Will a new director simply take over the project MacLaren started? At this point, there does not seem to be a definitive answer to those questions. Filming for Wonder Woman starts in the fall and that doesn’t give a new crew a lot of time. Granted, there are reportedly several Wonder Woman screenplays floating around in the Warner Bros. offices. Switching to a new script wouldn’t be so tough since nothing new needs to be written. Kevin Seawright feels like it could get done.

That is not to say Warner/D.C. Comics won’t request a new one be written. We’ll see what happens in that regard.

Speculating over what the creative differences are might not be fair to all parties involved. Likely, the executives wanted to avoid getting “too serious” with a superhero film and MacLaren might have wanted to craft something more melodramatic than what “the suits” were comfortable with.
